Doctor Who Theater
Past-Future
Since 1963 and 1985 Until Now
SINCE 1963Doctor Who, by the BBC, is the longest running science fiction television program of all time. It features a strange alien, who looks rather human, called "The Doctor." We never really find out his real name. His body regenerates when it wears out. He travels in time and space with companions who come and go. WAYS AND MEANSThe Doctor's time machine is called the TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimensions In Space). It is designed to blend in when it appears, but that function is broken so it alwaysd looks like a 1960's British police call box. It is huge inside and holds amazing secrets, possibilities and personalities. The Doctor has several unusual traits, at least for the star of an adventure program. First, he is personally non-violent, and eschews weapons, guns, combat and that sort of thing. Second, while he may be either young and handsome or old and distinguished looking, he does not engage in overt sexual activity. He may get a swoon or so, people may flirt with him and he may flirt back, but he always backs away. JOIN THE ADVENTURESince 1985 a group of Doctor Who enthusiasts, sometimes as many as 25 and sometimes as few as one, gather on Monday nights in Burlington, Vermont to take some time out, to move through time and space, and to experience all of the adventure and none of the danger.

Come Along With Us
JOIN US FOR ADVENTUREEvery Monday night when the host, Alfred Snider, is in town, Doctor Who Theater takes place in a location called "The Skycave." More than one episode may be seen in any given evening. We may see a new episode or a classic, as just about every episode that still exists is in the library in the Skycave. If interested send a message for an invitation and directions. This event is only for the open-minded and free-thinking.PROCEDURESThe episode to view is selected by those attending. Once we voted, established the top 100 stories, and watched them in countdown order. In other years, we have drawn episodes out of envelopes like "Metal Monsters" and "Purists Only." There may be a brief introductory video to help new attendees get some background. Bring your own beverages unless you like Red Glop. Be ready to be an active viewer, talk back to the screen and make your own comments. WHY WE DO ITOur community of viewers has changed over the years, but once a member of the "High Council" (regulars for a period of months) then always a member. We come from all walks of life, young and old, hipster and hippie, swank and skank, well, you get the idea. We have had romances, banquets, dancing and even a married couple who first met here. We do it to experience mind bending science fiction among those who appreciate it.
