Pagan Megalithic Ireland
And the Journey Begins...
IMPORTANT: Our schedule depends greatly upon the weather, so the following itinerary is a rough outline that may change at any time.
We do guarantee that we will get to most of the activities listed, with quite a few extra.
However, as the tour groups are fairly small, if there is somewhere that the group would be more interested in visiting, we may be able to arrange changes to suit the needs of the group as a whole.
Thursday, Oct. 28th - Fly out of your departure city (those outside of Europe)
Friday, Oct. 29th - Our adventure begins in Dublin City, where you will be met at the airport or bus station and escorted to the hotel or apartment where we will be spending the night.
The rest of the day will be free to shop, sleep, wander or crawl the many pubs. We will meet up around 6pm to discuss the trip and answer any questions you may have. Traveling alone? No worries. Your guides may have plans, but you're welcome to join them in whatever they may be doing.
Saturday, October 30st - We will begin the day with a visit to the Dublin National Museum to see the wonderful pre-Christian Celtic
exhibit. We will then wander over to Trinity College to view the beautiful campus and see the world famous Book of Kells.
We will then travel to Westmeath to check in to our rental cottage and settle in. For those who have trouble resting, there's a country pub at the end of the drive. The Evening (and actually most evenings) will be spent at a local rural pub.
Sunday, October 31st - Back to Dublin to attend "Feile Draiochta", Ireland's Annual Pagan conference! Evening at a 'fancy dress' Halloween party at a pub in the village of "Fore". Tarot readers are encouraged to bring their cards and read - it's a charity event.
Monday, November 1st - Today we'll be off to the Megalithic Complexes of Newgrange and Knowth , Ireland's only UNESCO site. Gods
willing and we have enough time, we will also visit the Passage chamber tomb of Four Knocks
Tuesday, November 2nd - Today we go on a major excursion to see the magnificent Rock of Cashel - an ancient monastery. Afterward we will travel to the Grange at Lough Gur, Irelands largest circle of standing stones and a place of immense power. We will be back quite late.
Wednesday, November 3rd - Today we take it easy with some nature walks within the county of Westmeath, there are several to choose from, so if people are up for it we may do more than one. There's a castle garden walk, a forest walk with unexcavated Cairns, and more. In the evening we will visit the haunted ruins of the Templar Monastery in Fore.
Thursday, November 4th - Another long excursion to the breathtaking Wicklow Mountains and Glendalough.
This is a spectacular trip, when the weather is good, and one of the reasons we may need to restructure the itinerary. It's well worth it though, we guarantee.
Friday, November 5th -
The Slieve na gCailleach Witch Mountain - an awe-inspiring complex of megalithic tombs. Wonderful for inner work.
Late afternoon - the city of Mullingar for it's shops, it's MANY pubs and it's extremely friendly atmosphere. There are internet cafes as well, for those who need to check email.
Saturday, November 6th - The Hill of Tara, Seat of the Ancient Irish Kings. Tara has amazing vews of the countryside and a wonderfully Pagan gift shop as well.
Last night at Abbey House Pub in Fore - for a late night singalong.
Sunday, November 7th - Sunrise at Cairnbane West - which illuminates only on actual Samhain - Then off to the airport for home
