Since forming the Galestro-Smith duo in early 2010 as classically trained musicians at Stetson University, flutist Angela Galestro and guitarist Jonathan Smith have delighted audiences across Central Florida. Both highly accomplished artists, the duo offer a diverse repertoire of Classical, Jazz, Latin American and popular music. Distinguished for their seasoned professionalism and sensitive musicianship, the Galestro-Smith Duo will shape their repertoire to suit one’s personal taste and requirements and are available for special events from weddings and garden parties to corporate and restaurant functions.

Meet the Musicians..
Flutist Angela Galestro is a scholarship student of Ms. Susan McQuinn at Stetson University where she is completing her Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance. Upon graduation in May 2012, Angela will pursue her graduate studies.Angela performs regularly at Stetson University as a soloist and in various large and chamber ensembles, and has been appointed Principal Flute and Section Leader of the Stetson University Symphonic Band and Symphony Orchestra, as well as Stetson’s Flute Orchestra and Opera Orchestra for the Fall 2010 and Spring 2011. A versatile flutist, Angela is accomplished in both extended technique and auxiliary flutes such as piccolo and alto flute. In addition to two orchestral performances at Carnegie Hall in New York City, Angela has most recently performed principal flute in both Strauss's Till Eulenspiegel, and premiered widely celebrated composer Sydney Hodkinson’s Potpourri in November 2010.Angela has studied and/or performed in masterclasses with renowned flutists including Adrian Brett (former principal flute with the Royal Philharmonic and BBC Radio Orchestra), Betsy Hudson Traba (principal flute in the Sarasota Orchestra and Sarasota Wind Quintet, former principal flutist of the Hofer Symphoniker in Hof, Germany) Angeleita Floyd (Professor of Flute, University of Northern Iowa), and Eva Amsler (international performer and current flute professor at Florida State University).In addition to performance accomplishments, Angela has won several scholarship and concerto competitions such as the University of North Florida’s Winter Symposium Competition and State College of Florida’s Concerto Competition in 2008.An avid teacher, Angela currently maintains a private studio and is a faculty member of Stetson University’s Community School of the Arts teaching various ages of students. She also has been a member of the faculty for the Stetson University Summer Flute Clinic, where she served as instructor, chamber coach, and counselor.Angela is an active member in Sigma Alpha Iota (since 2008), an International Music Fraternity for women as well as the Florida Flute Association and National Flute Association since 2007. Jonathan Lee Smith, guitarist, is an active musician in the central Florida area who has an emphasis in classical, jazz, and rock styles. Jonathan received highly commended for the Stetson University concerto competition in the fall of 2010. While classical guitar is his main focus and pursuing degree, Jonathan actively performs with the Stetson Jazz Ensemble, Stetson Jazz Combo, a guitar duo, a flute and guitar duo, and with local hit rock band, Run Rhino. As lead guitarist for Run Rhino, Jon works as a manager to help the band progress with national performances, group songwriting, and future career goals. Run Rhino has been featured as an opening band for Hippiefest (2 years in a row) in Daytona Beach, FL; The American Music Festival in Daytona Beach, FL opening for Lifehouse; and has been featured at top music venues in central Florida such as the Plaza Theatre, Backbooth, and the Social. Under the study of Dr. Stephen Robinson, Jonathan has performed in master classes with Bruce Holzman, Ron Borczon, the Amadeus Duo and the Brazil Guitar Duo. Jonathan is now finishing his bachelors degree of guitar performance at Stetson University with a repertoire of works ranging from Django Reinhardt, to Castelnuovo-Tedesco, J.S. Bach, jazz standards and many self-composed works, solo and with Run Rhino. Jonathan will soon be practicing his profession for the next year with composing, recording, and performances and then will be returning back to school to receive his masters and doctorate in music.
