Each class comes to the Computer Lab 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) for 30 minutes each day.
In the Computer Lab, students are taught how to keyboard, or type, how to work in depth in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher & Power Point), how to use the Paint program, and how to safely surf the internet to do research and play educational games.
Students learn to type stories and poems in Word, create spreadsheets and databases in Excel, make banners, cards, and fliers in Publisher, and make slide shows in Power Point. They also come to take book tests and work on Fast Math (a math facts program)!
A little bit about me...
From the moment I can remember, I have loved to travel and see new places. My parents took my family (my little sister, Sarah, my little brother, John, and me) on a different educational trip every summer just about. My dad was a History & English teacher, and loved to teach even outside of school! I've been to 39 states of the United States, and to 8 different countries on 3 continents. But that just doesn't seem to be enough for me! I'd like to see Hawaii, Viet Nam (where my husband is from), Costa Rica (where my brother and sister and their families go for mission work), Spain, and Italy. But most of all, I would LOVE to walk through Jerusalem in the footsteps of Jesus!
I also love to cook. My family says I never cook the same thing twice. Which is probably pretty true. Japanese, Viet Namese, Chinese, Italian, Mexican, French, Cajun: we love it all!
For 15 years, I worked as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. When my youngest son was born, I decided to leave the medical field.
After substituting here at Savoy for a couple of years, I was hired on as an aide for the Computer Lab and the cafeteria cashier in March of 2009. And it's the best job with which I've ever been blessed!
Thank you, Savoy, for welcoming me and my family into your community!
We live just outside of Savoy in a house we had built (and did a lot of the work outselves) a few years ago. I had the pleasure of designing it just how our family wanted it. It was a lot of hard work, but so fun and fulfilling! We are surrounded by beautiful country and wonderful neighbors! My family is so happy to be in this little town.
Both my boys LOVE sports, of any kind just about. Aaron, the senior, loves football and basketball. Sam, the 7th grader, loves baseball and football most. But they both play every sport that the school offers, with the exception of golf , tennis and cross country. Aaron would do all of those, too, if time allowed.
Aaron is quarterback for the high school football team, one of 3 seniors this year. The Triple Threat, as they've been called, are good friends, brothers almost. Aaron also is a Big Brother to an elementary student, and to a little church buddy. He plans to play college football next year either at SOSU, or OSU.
Sam plays junior high football as a running back. He is a pitcher and catcher in baseball. He loves to read and hates homework.
Aaron and Sam love college football. They enjoyed watching Zack Robinson, Sam Bradford, now Brandon Weeden, and numerous others.
