I was very flattered when a good friend first asked me to draw a tattoo for him. Just the idea that my image will be with him for the rest of his life was such an amazing compliment to me. statement

I am fascinated with Nineteenth and early Twentieth century photographs and I collect and use them as sources for my drawings and photos. I find delicate and aged snapshots and portraits interesting because in front of the camera or within the vacuum of a portrait studio, the subject paused and momentarily conjured up an ideal image of them self, only to relax and return to their habitual mannerisms once the shutter snapped closed or the lens cap was put back in place. This unnatural pause for the camera makes me wonder about all that is hidden by façades fashioned for the camera and public scrutiny. What unique and strange stories lie behind cheerful smiles, good posture and innocent, unshakeable gazes?My interest in history, early photography, anatomical renderings, medicine, science, mechanics, and illustration are currently leading me to focus my efforts on drawing. I'm also now working with many individuals to create images that they would like to see on paper, on their body, on t-shirts, etc., and it is a pleasure to bring these ideas to life.
