Counseling for Couples, Individuals & Families
Adrienne O'Neal is a counselor providing individual, couples and family therapy with a Nevada license in Marriage & Family Therapy, and maintains a private practice in Las Vegas, Nevada.
As private practitioner Adrienne works with a broad spectrum of clients including couples, teens, and childhood sexual abuse survivors. Among her areas of focus are depression, anxiety, addictions, infidelity, blended families, and cultural issues.
The main goal is to provide a confidential and nurturing environment to help overcome a variety of life issues and personal challenges, as well as to promote personal growth and development. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help build on strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
It can be difficult to ask for help and learn to trust someone with your feelings and inner-thoughts. When a client and therapist engage in a relationship, a caring, trusting and safe environment is created. A qualified therapist can treat depression and anxiety, substance abuse issues, relationship conflict, and identity issues. Adrienne can provide effective treatment to help deal with these issues in an encouraging and practical manner.
In counseling the therapist/client relationship is the biggest predictor of success. This degree of comfort you feel with the therapist is called the therapeutic relationship and it is important to create a caring, trusting and safe environment where you will not be judged. By the end of the first session you should have an idea of whether the “fit” is right for you, feel heard and understood, and ask any questions you might have.
I work with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues providing services that span from depression and grief counseling to parenting support, couples counseling and beyond. In a comfortable and supportive atmosphere, I offer a personalized approach tailored to each of my clients individual needs to help attain the personal growth for which you strive.
Treatment focus areas include:
• Therapy for Depression and Anxiety
• Couples and Family Counseling
• Sexual and Physical Abuse Survivor Treatment
• Parenting Support
• Grief Counseling

• Heal from Sexual, Emotional Physical & Financial Abuse
• Improve Adolescent and Parenting Issues
• Blended Families’ Concerns
• Cultural, Racial, and Multicultural Identity Issues
So many want and need to be close to someone, but end up divorced, filled with anger and disappointment. Many who are in long-term relationships attempt to achieve a strong, enduring bond based primarily on emotions. In most relationships the love and acceptance continue as long as the other person is meeting a certain level of expectation. If the feelings are warm, both can enjoy one another's company, overlook a partner's troubling or annoying traits, communicate adequately, and still express affection.
Couples will initiate therapy when the feelings cool, one or both find no reserves or capability to love an obviously “imperfect person.” Therapy can break the spiral that starts when -- needs are not met, which causes hurt, which promotes defensiveness, which reduces positive communication, which heightens misunderstanding, which provokes conflict, which fuels anger and bitterness. If forgiveness and reconciliation do not break this spiral, the ability to love one another is difficult. Where do you want to start?
Family counseling may help relationships and understanding within a family, for example during a divorce, for blended families, or the approaching death of a family member. This can occur with all members of the family unit present, but this is not always the case. If a family member suffers from alcoholism or drug addiction but does attend sessions this may be the reason other family members seek out counseling.
The goal of the therapist is to observe interactions between family members and the perception of non-interacting family members. The therapist often helps the family reflect on better ways of communicating with each other, sometimes it's about instruction and encouragement. In fact, it often teaches family members new and more positive ways to communicate to replace old, negative communication patterns.
What is it? – It’s a great option to face-to-face sessions. Skype is a free software that allows you to have free calls, video conferencing and chat over the internet. If you have a computer and internet connection, you can start downloading the program and using it right away. Your computer will need to have a camera (webcam) in place for voice and video calling.
Skype counseling is a great alternative to face-to-face counseling. Skype sessions work the same way as face-to-face sessions.
