HOME
Adonai International Ministries is based in Canillá, El Quiché, Guatemala. Established in 2001, there are three main areas in which we serve here: Medicine, Aviation, and Agriculture. A small ministry, we are comprised mainly of our family and a few other volunteers who help keep things running.
The heart of our ministry finds its foundation in Matthew 25:40 "...whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did unto Me." We believe that Jesus is all about relationships and that these three areas of ministry are simply tools which God desires to use to bring His people unto Him. Our desire is to serve Him and bring glory to His name in all that we do!

THE PEOPLE
WHO WE ARE
Duane and Leslie Ficker and their six children moved to Guatemala in 1999 to work in an orphanage in San Andrés Sajcabajá in the department of El Quiché. In 2001, they felt God leading them to move the short distance to Canillá where the ministry is now based.
Duane, President of AIM, worked for more than 15 years in the States as a corporate pilot before moving his family to Guatemala. He now serves as the pilot of both airplanes, as well as overseeing the general workings of the minstry. Leslie worked as a registered nurse for over 20 years in the NICU before moving to Guatemala. In addition to keeping the household running, she now continues to homeschool their three youngest children, as well as oversee all four clinics.
Aaron and Katie Ficker joined the ministry as a family in 2007. Aaron, an airframe and powerplant mechanic and aircraft inspector, oversees and performs the mechanical work on the aircrafts. Katie, a registered nurse, works in the four clinics and helps out with teams. Their daughter Anna was born in February 2010.
Ryan and Katie Ficker moved to Guatemala in April 2010 with their two sons, Jacob and Joshua, born in December 2007 and February 2010. Ryan helps to oversee and manage ministry projects, and Katie works as an ultrasound tech in our prenatal program in the four clinics.
David Ficker, 22 years old, oversees and carries out all the mechanical maintenance on the vehicles as well as cultivating local farmers' fields before the rainy season each year.
Joseph Ficker, 20 years old, received his pilot's license in March 2011, and in addition to flying, assists with maintenace as needed on both aircrafts.
Rachel Ficker, 15 years old, is homeschooled and helps out with many of the ministry's writing and media needs.
Grace, 5 years old, and Abi, 4 years old, are the youngest of the Ficker children and were both officially adopted in the year 2010.
MEDICINE
AIM currently has three weekly clinics and one monthly clinic in an area only accessible by airplane.
The clinics focus on the three main areas of chronic condition maintenance, prenatal care, and a nutrition program for both children and families in need. In addition to those three main areas, general consults are given, comprised mostly of women and children.
AGRICULTURE
AIM's agriculture department's main area of work is in helping the local farmers plant their fields each year. As it is still common to use oxen to work the fields, AIM is able to use their tractors to do the work about 25 times faster and for significantly less money.
We have also worked with several different smaller projects as individual needs have arisen, including providing people with chickens and starter feed and housing to use as a source of income.
We are also currently in the process of devloping talapia ponds that he people here will be able to use as a food source and a means of income. In an area where the primary source of food is beans and tortillas, the addition of fish to their diet (a food source that they already love to eat!) would be a huge nutritional benefit.
AVIATION
AIM currently has a Piper Aztec and a Cessna 182. As we live a five hour drive and 25 minute flight from the City, the Aztec is used primarily for travel and emergency flights into Guatemala City. However it is not able to safely fly out into the "bush" areas of Guatemala, including where our one satellite clinic is. For our remote clinics (including shorter two day clinics into areas of need), emergency flights, or any other needed travel into the jungle areas, the Cessna has become an invaluable plane in our ministry.
You can click on the link to the right (YouTube vidoes) to see some landings, take-offs, and general flying our ministry has done in this area and out into the jungle.
