SWING PHI SWING Social Fellowship, Inc.®
A non-profit organization dedicated to community service, academic excellence and heightening community and cultural consciousness.
The organization's specific purpose is to Support Women In Need of Growth. Support which facilitates the attainment of goals that are necessary for personal and professional growth.
The programmatic thrust of this organization is scholarship assistance and collaboration with other organizations sharing a common interest.
In the year of 1969, at the peak of the Black Power Movement, African Americans were fighting for their rights, claiming their culture and displaying their afro centricity. On April 4, the somber first anniversary of the murder of civil rights activist Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., twelve dynamic women displayed their commitment to the cause. Recruited by the Fellowman of Groove Phi Groove Social Fellowship, Inc. to serve as their sister organization, our beloved Founding Sisters, proud, innovative and determined, stepped out on faith at Winston Salem State University to establish Swing Phi Swing, Social Fellowship Inc ®.
These bold, Afro-centric Sisters "dared to be different" challenged the standard normality of pledging a "Greek lettered sorority", went against the odds and established a unique Social Fellowship. They ignited a flame that would influence thousands of other women across the country to follow in their footsteps. Over the next three decades, their pioneering spirit continues to burn in the hearts of many sisters, transcending the boundaries of geography, social class, complexion and religious affiliation.
Today, SWING is a unique, non-profit organization with over 50 active graduate and undergraduate chapters throughout the USA and a commitment to affecting social change, consciously uplifting women of color and being on the front line in regards to community involvement. We realize that as conscious African American Women, we are an integral part of our communities. We accept our responsibility as Sisters With Interest Never Gone.

Chapter History
Sisters Rising for Change
An alumni of Adelphi University, Sister Alexis "MISS POET" Lamont dreamed of bringing to life a SWING chapter on campus. After enduring two and a half years of hard work ,in Fall 2005 that dream was fulfilled.
Five sisters entered SwingLand; thus solidifying the Adelphi University campus with the Ndada Amuka Kwa Pindua Chapter of S.W.I.N.G P.H.I S.W.I.N.G Social Fellowship Incorporated. Since its inception, the Ndada chapter has continue to add to SWING's growing body of dynamic, brilliant, forceful Sisters.
Like most chapters, Ndada has had to fight its way through the over-arching Greek mentality that pervades our university campus. Many have tried so hard to bring us down, but they have only succeeded in pushing us further.

Swing Phi Swing Social Fellowship, Inc.® is dedicated to community service, academic excellence, and heightening community and cultural consciousness. We specifically "Support Women In Need of Growth;" which has proven to be a positive addition to many college campuses and communities throughout the United States.
We welcome diversity in our membership. You do not have to be the perfect woman, the smartest woman, or even the best looking woman. We desire women who are willing to accept and welcome the diversity of our beloved sisterhood. New members are accepted on both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Undergraduate Membership Requirements
Undergraduate members are young women who enjoy their membership in this intimate and dedicated sisterhood. They are innovative and dedicated young women working diligently to emphasize that Swing Phi Swing® is a non-Greek organization, but a very close knit sisterhood.
Membership is open to any young woman enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Baccalaureate or Associates Degree. She must have completed 24 credit hours and maintained a GPA of 3.0 or better, based on a 4.0 scale.
Graduate Membership Requirements
Graduate members are proud professionals, entrepreneurs, mothers, sisters, and friends who often travel the same roads. Many with vastly different backgrounds, but similar goals. They bond by finding common grounds to share and reflect upon. They make charitable contributions and offer volunteer services in our communities.
Membership is open to any woman who has completed an accredited college, technical or career school. She must be a professional with minimal training in her chosen career field, preferably with a demonstrated record of community or organization service of a minimum of 5 years.
We do not accept members who currently belong to a Greek-letter sorority. However, academic business or service fraternity membership is allowed.
