Adaptive Arts is a 501(c)(3) theater company seeking to make theater more accessible to individuals with Autism through three programs within our season. WIth our new works program, The Autism Initiative, we foster emerging works that raise awareness of disability. With our educational department, we lead in-school residencies at schools serving students with Autism, as well as training days for educators and artists seeking to work with that population. Finally, as the cornerstone of our season, we adapt classic and contemporary work to be Autism-friendly.
The plays we chose, from emerging and published/award winning playwrights, address this disorder in diverse ways. Our works paint Autism in a new light for our audiences, in hopes that a greater understanding and acceptance of the disorder may be reached.
