At the ACT-SO Modesto local level, gold, silver, and bronze medals are awarded. In addition, the gold medalists are taken to the National Competition.Finalists who advance to the ACT-SO National Level, are awarded with medals, cash prizes of $2,000 for Gold, $1500 for silver, and $1,000 for bronze, in each category. The National finalists receive many other awards and prizes provided by national sponsors.

Who is eligible to participate? High school students of African descent, who are citizens of the United States, enrolled in grades 9-12 and are amateurs in the categories of competition are able to participate.
