The Odyssey is one of the great Greek epics, passed down orally from the time of Homer himself. Join the award-winning ACSian Theatre as we bring you on a fantastic voyage across time and space.
The wily Odysseus, hero of the Trojan War, is tired of fighting. He just wants to get back to his wife but the gods have other plans. Odysseus is going to have to use all of his legendary guile to get himself back home safely to his kingdom of Ithaca and to the waiting arms of the (hopefully) ever-faithful Penelope. The journey will take him years and before he gets home he’ll have to brave the portals of Hades itself.
Produced by the Singapore Youth Festival Gold award-winning ACSian Theatre, the drama club of Anglo-Chinese Junior College, the Odyssey promises to be a thrilling and highly kinetic adaptation of one of the greatest stories ever told.
In the November of 2009, ACSian Theatre proudly presented a period dramatic adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo, Alexandre Dumas’ classic novel of adventure and revenge. Set between 1812 and 1835, The Count of Monte Cristo tells the story of Edmond Dantes, a successful merchant sailor who sees his career, his love and his freedom stolen from him and of his quest for revenge. Dantes, is about to marry and be given command of his own ship when Danglars, a jealous colleague of his frames him for treason. Despite the clear fabrication of the evidence against him, Dantes is convicted of treason and sentenced to life imprisonment at the Chateau D’If.
Thirteen long years later, Dantes befriends another prisoner, the Abbe Faria, a priest. Though ill and dying Faria tells him the secret of a hidden treasure on the island of Monte Cristo and inspires him to escape. Unearthing the treasure, Dantes changes his identity and returns to France disguised as the mysterious Count of Monte Cristo. Now, with the resources at his disposal, Dantes will use his newfound wealth to exact his revenge on Danglars and his corrupt allies.
