Remember the goal is to move your merch. from the racks to
checkout. To ensure this all items should be:
1. CLEAN and neat in appearance remove any visible stains, mend tears or missing buttons, fasten buttons, snaps or zippers so that clothes lay flat. Freshly pressed clothes make a much better impression. Febreeze, OxyClean, and ArmorAll (for outdoor plastic toys) work wonders in making your items look new!
2. Clearly Tagged and Described Follow all tagging instructions closely and secure tags well. Descriptions on the tag help sell items, especially if it includes a name brand or store. A piece of masking tape on the inside collar or waistband with your consignor # written on it helps in case a ag is lost.
3. Priced to move 1/3 of the retail price is a reasonable mark- down for consignment. Check local consignment stores for an idea of the going rate. If the item has never been worn and tags are still attached mention it on description. Sets sell better than separates so pair up anything you can. For larger toys and furniture you may note the current retail price.

Shoes:
Attach shoes securely together using the laces,
safety pins or a zip tie. Attach the tag through the laces or strap using a pin
or ribbon. In addition to the price tag, place masking tape with your
consignor number and the price on the bottom of both shoes in case they get
separated or the tag is lost.
Large Items : In addition to the price tag, place masking tape with your
consignor number and the price on the item in case the tag is lost. Include
any small parts that go with the item by placing them in a Ziploc bag, taped
shut, labeled with your consignor number, and taped firmly to the large item.
Use clear packing tape for this, not scotch tape, to ensure the items stay
together. Remember that many children will be shopping with parents and
we cannot be responsible for missing pieces.
Clothing:
Sizes newborn 24months may be hung on plastic childrens hangers. All clothing items size 2T and up should be hung on wire hangers with the hook facing left (Like a ?). Wire hangers are sturdy, allow maximum rack space, slim enough for pinning tags and support your merchandise neatly throughout the sale. Adult size hangers can be obtained (often for free) from your dry cleaner. They can be fed through
the bottom of small childrens clothes and display the clothes nicely, bend or band together the ends of hangers if needed to prevent stretching of small sleeves. Safety pin shirts to the hanger if needed to prevent sliding off. Pants/skirts/shorts should be hung on the upper part of the hanger with the pins close to
the hook to prevent sliding.
If selling as a set pin the bottom behind, not under the top so shoppers can check size and condition of each piece. Be sure the pins go through the hanger, not just
the shirt, to avoid damage. Use medium or large safety pins only not straight pins or small gold pins.
Small Items : Large Ziploc bags with the tag attached to the outside work
well for smaller items like hats, socks, onesies, small toys, books or DVDs.
Attach the tags with a safety pin or packing tape. Any bags of toys should
be securely sealed with packing tape to prevent damage or loss during the
sale as they are extremely tempting to small shoppers. Clear bags are much
more attractive to shoppers than colored! The Dollar Tree has a variety of
sizes for cheap!
Clothing Pricing guide: Consistently our sellers who get the biggest
checks are those that priced low and brought quantity!
• Birth- 12mo: This is one of the hardest sizes to sell. Prices range around
$1-$3 per piece. Group items into sets whenever possible. Only accepting
20 items per consignor in this category so be picky.
• 18mo-2T: a little bit easier to sell, but not much. This size clothes should
be priced for $2-$5 per piece.
• 3T-10: This is the easiest size clothes to sell (Especially boys). An easy
rule of thumb is to add $1-3 to the size. In other words a Size 3T outfit
(thats top AND bottom) should be about $4-$6 depending on brand and
quality, and a size 6 outfit should be $7-10,and a size 8 outfit should be $9-
11. If youre selling just one item (top OR bottom) then just half the price of
an outfit ;)
• 12-16: Since starting with this size the kids are starting to shop with mom
and can be picky about what their wear: its a little harder to sell this size.
Should be priced at about $5-$7 per piece.
With all of the above sizes a good rule of thumb is to add $2 to the price if
its new without tags, has an accessory that matches (Headband, socks, etc.),
or if its name brand.
Maternity clothing should be priced pretty much the same no matter the size.
• Tee shirt $1-2 • Casual Top $3-4 • Dressy Top $5 • Jeans $5 •Dress $5-10
