Welcome to Southside's newest classic venue full of

history, character and rustic charm.

Come amd expereince our venue. The buidling was previously a church built in 1904 and has been an important landmark of the Southside community for many years. It has recently been restored to be a vibrant part of the Southside community serving as the perfect historic location and setting for a unique event. It is full of character and rustic charm.

We host gallery events, weddings, receptions, concerts, business events, and parties.

From I-75 North take exit 2 on the left to merge onto I-24 W toward Chattanooga/Nashville. Exit onto S Market St/State Route 58 N

Continue to follow S Market St . Turn right onto E Main St..

The Church On Main Street will be on the right.

From Knoxville I-75 South

From I-75 South follow the I-75 S (signs for Chattanooga).

Make a slight right onto I-24 W (signs for Chattanooga/Birmingham).

Exit onto S Market St/State Route 58 N. Continue to follow S Market St. . Turn right onto E Main St.. Take the 2nd right onto Rossville Ave.

Head south on Airport Rd toward Airport Connector Rd..

Turn right onto TN-2 W/US-11 S/US-64 W. . Turn left onto McBrien Rd

Deborah Gibb, event manager at The Church on Main Street, is known for her innovative & fresh ideas, her devotion to detail and her excellence in event planning services. Deborahs charismatic personality and demeanor help her clients feel at ease as she creates the wedding or party of their dreams. These qualities, together with Deborahs respect for each client, have made her the preferred choice.

Deborah has more than ten years of event management experience hosting fetes in New York, Las Vegas, Miami, as well as the scenic city where she resides, Chattanooga.

Each of Deborahs events is original, inspired and creative in design. She brings a unique perspective to the planning of each customized event. Deborah creates the ideal atmosphere and an unforgettable event no matter how big or small.

At The Church on Main Street, Deborah provides professional event planning services for any type and size of wedding, party, corporate event, business meeting, bar/bat mitzvah, childrens or adults birthday parties, and just about any other social occasion. Robert

Robert Morris is a contemporary photographer and is one of the owners of the Church On Main. Robert has his photo studio in the venue and it is used for various projects. Photographers interested in using the church for shooting special projects can contact Robert for additional information.

Robert has won awards for his work for both scenery and glamour. He enjoys producing work others can appreciate as positive and pretty. He unfortunately does not do wedding photography but can recommend several artists he respects.

THE HISTORY Museum Frame

1904

The church dates back to 1904 when constructed by the St. James Episcopal Methodist Church in the popular Romanesque architectural style. The building was notable as having the distinction of being one of only 10 for the denomination with baptisteries inside the church.

The laying of the cornerstone was presided over by Bishop Goodsell . The hymn was "Speed Away."

Upon the addition of the main hall dedication John A. Patten gave the presiding address. He spoke on the pleasure of giving. A quote from John Patten:

"A man's character is not to be judged so much by the amount of his posessions as by the uses to which he places them."

The oldest part of the building is the tower that, at one time, abutted a wooden main church building. Eventually, the wooden structure was replaced with the present brick edifice and various additions added through the years.

In latter years, the building became home to the New Hope Baptist Church, which added the cinderblock Fellowship Hall on the northwest side, and a Pastor’s Study on the southwest.

The congregation was known for fiscal responsibility in funding the construction of the building through bakes sales and other fund raisers.
