Riggiefest
New Jersey native Dave Gibson fell in love with the Mohawk Valley's staple dish, chicken riggies. A current resident on New Hartford, he decided it was time to celebrate the unique dish and score some karma for a
local non-profit. He quickly partnered with the YWCA Mohawk Valley and Riggiefest was born. The first event was held on a rainy day in 2005, drawing an overwhelming crowd of hungry Riggie Lovers to the Val Bialas park in Utica. The event was a hit. Since that first festival, each year thousands of riggie aficiandos crowd the Utica Memorial Auditorium to sample and vote for the area's very best Chicken Riggies.
