About
Vitali Zelinski is an abstract painter currently residing in Toronto, Canada. He was born in Russia in 1981. His most memorable focuses in art are extreme attention to detail and a rich palette of bright colors. Vitali's art alternates the use of oil and acrylic paints . His works most often feature reoccurring patterns and biomorphic creatures, each displaying repeating elements resembling shells, tentacles, seeds and such vague abstractions which evoke other questionable likenesses to organic sea-life. His goals and hopes as an artist are a constant flow of inspiration, expression, and self improvement.

"The truly creative mind in any field is no more than this: A human creature born abnormally, inhumanly sensitive. To him ... a touch is a blow, a sound is a noise, a misfortune is a tragedy, a joy is an ecstasy, a friend is a lover, a lover is a god, and failure is death. Add to this cruelly delicate organism the overpowering necessity to create, create, create - so that without the creating of music or poetry or books or buildingsor something of meaning, his very breath is cut off from him. He must create, must pour out creation. By some strange, unknown, inward urgency he is not really alive unless he is creating."Pearl S. Buck, (1892-1973) We create our own atmosphere, wherever we are. We set the mood, we project ourselves onto spaces. We also absorb the atmosphere that have already been set for us. We mull it over and mesh it together and keep projecting the combination of both. The same can be said for objects, it just depends how you observe them. You can see them for their purpose, their geometric shape, their colour. Or you could just associate them with whatever else your mind allows. Everything projects an aura. When I began painting, I focused on the aesthetic the outer layer. I based my art on accurate appearances of things, what the regular human eye can see. I eventually started adding the unseen aura I picked up from everything. I started painting inside out, projecting outwards, from the eye and the mind. Each detail, shadow, tone, colour and shape are painted with uninterrupted curved lines. I tried to portray the form and the feeling behind it without losing the original image. It wasn't enough, outer appearances didnt satisfy me. I tried to visually display the unseen interaction of existing matter. As I kept going, my sketches became more warped, distorted the lines separated and flowed on their own. The objects I painted melted and bound together, then separated once more and continued in endless fluidity. I no longer focused on forms alone, I gave my hand free reign, and ended up with a canvas full of emotional responses to everything surrounding me. This is how I discovered figurative painting. The objects in my paintings are not always in their right place, sometimes they gather in one part of the canvas, climb or stand on each other, shrink and stretch, and begin to look not quite like themselves. I didnt focus on this too much, and my figurative paintings evolvedinto pure abstraction. It was a fast transition, fully dissolved. This form of art became universal for me, I felt most comfortable losing myself in it. I could finally express myself. With a little bit of experimentation, intuition, and spontaneity it all falls into place, from my mind, to my studio, to my canvas and onward.

Pearl S. Buck, (1892-1973)
We create our own atmosphere, wherever we are. We set
the mood, we project ourselves onto spaces. We also absorb
the atmosphere that have already been set for us. We mull it over and mesh it together and keep projecting the
combination of both.
The same can be said for objects, it just depends how
you observe them. You can see them for their purpose, their geometric shape, their colour. Or you could just associate
them with whatever else your mind allows. Everything
projects an aura.
When I began painting, I focused on the aesthetic the
outer layer. I based my art on accurate appearances of things, what the regular human eye can see. I eventually started adding the unseen aura I picked up from everything. I started painting inside out, projecting outwards, from the eye
and the mind.
As I kept going, my sketches became
more warped, distorted the lines separated and flowed on
their own.
The objects I painted melted and bound together, then separated once more and continued in endless fluidity. I no longer focused on forms alone,
I gave my hand free reign, and ended up with a canvas
full of emotional responses to everything surrounding me.
This is how I discovered figurative painting.
The objects in my paintings are not always in their
right place, sometimes they gather in one part of the canvas, climb or stand on each other, shrink and stretch, and begin to look not quite like themselves. I didnt focus on this too much, and my figurative paintings evolved
into pure abstraction. It was a fast transition, fully dissolved.
This form of art became universal for me, I felt most comfortable losing myself in it. I could finally express myself. With a little bit of experimentation, intuition,
and spontaneity it all falls into place, from my mind, to my studio, to my canvas and onward.
