On a windy Tuesday evening, the e-Business Association hosted Social Media 101 while an overwhelming amount of CBE students filled the room to hear a panel of speakers ranging from different consulting, web design and technology firms. The speakers included: Page Sands (R2Integrated), Greg Cangialosi (Blue Sky Factory), Jared Goralnick (SET Consulting), Sean Oakley (Congruent Media), Hollis Thomases (Web Ad.vantage), and David Troy (Roadhouse Technologies).
Students were able to walk away from this inspiring social media event with a better understanding of the differences between a social network and social media. The importance of networking and impacts of being involved in a social media were stressed during this event. Panelists were very informative providing students with insightful facts and advantages to being highly involved in the two-way street of social media. They explained how vital it is for the future of successful businesses to establish contacts and relationships and maintain them over time. They also explained how beneficial it is for currents students and upcoming graduates to engage this opportunity as it will open up doors for them in the future. Go ahead and sign up on the social media sites! But remember, once posted on the web anyone can access this information! So think, then post!
