Green Charger
The Green Charger is a smartphone charger that eliminates the vampire load charge that all idle chargers consume when plugged into an electrical socket, but not plugged into the electronic device associated with it. We are able to eliminate this load by engineering a switch into the charger that only allows current to flow from the electrical socket when the smartphone is plugged in to the socket. The Green Charger is one of the first products on the energy efficiency market that is not only cheap, but provides cost savings to customers that will be realized in a short period of time. By directly targeting the smartphone market we have capitalized on not only the increasing popularity of smartphones, but also the relative inefficiency of smartphone batteries themselves. In standard home offices up to 30% of energy consumed is by idle chargers, the Green Charger will reduce this number drastically and customers will reap the savings the first time they use it. Because we offer this premium feature we will have relative pricing power. We estimate that we will be able to charge up to 25% more than standard smartphone chargers due to the savings customers will realize. I say relative because if we charge 50% or even 100% more, customers will have a hard time justifying the upfront cost. Our marketing strategy will surround two main ideas: the first being the cost savings realized using the Green Charger and the second being the social motivation to construct a more environmentally sustainable economy. The vampire load killing switch has itself been created, but it exists mainly as expensive equipment that only trained professionals have the ability to install. Our product can be used by any and everybody. Our target market is the smartphone market, this includes individual consumers and small and large businesses. Our product is especially appealing to large businesses that are now looking to trim costs in any way that does not reduce productivity. Are ideal marketing campaign will include a national advertising campaign, in addition to strategic partnerships with electronics retailers who will advertise the product themselves.
