No matter though, how many pictures you see here or however you interpret them, you can only really know and understand what is here by actually coming here to see for yourself.
Now the pictures you have seen so far were all taken in the same area just a little northwest of Mt. Rushmore. Along this road, on both sides, you can drive up and step right out of your car to stand next to many of these stone giants.
Others , you gotta hike just a little or maybe just a lot, uphill both ways, sometimes. Depending on what you want to see.
When you get to the top of one particular ridge, overlooking a long meadow to the south and a larger valley to the south east, you see a vast landscape, littered everywhere with large petrified tree sections similar to the ones you have seen so far. Then when you look out a little further, you notice right away that things get a lot bigger and you realize that everything else you have seen is most certainly smaller giant trees and branches of much larger giant trees.
Wow. Time to burn some brain calories. First, is this for real? All of the evidence before you weighs heavily in favor of yes. How could trees of this size have existed? How could anything grow this big? What happened to them? It appears that this forest of hyper colossal giants was destroyed, broken and knocked over by some cataclysmic force and the entire island collapsed into the surrounding sea. Think Tunguska times a "billion". Are there more? Do they keep getting bigger? What else is there to be found on this ancient island?
