Park watch is an effective crime prevention program for your neighborhood park.
The goal of a Park Watch Program is to prevent crime and vandalism through community involvement. Similar to a Neighborhood Crime Watch Program, Park Watch asks park users to be the extra eyes and ears for police and enforcement agencies.
The Park Watch Program is an effort to report and prevent crime and vandalism to playground, park equipment, and park facilities; to report suspicious activities in parks; and to promote public awareness for parks and recreation activities.
A concerned community can deter crime by taking the time to report suspicious activities to police or park officials.
Whether you choose to become part of a group like KPAT (Kalama Park Action Team), or simply keep an eye out while you individually are at the park --your eyes and ears are a valuable crime prevention tool!

CALL POLICE!
Please note: Homelessness is not a crime and social drinking is allowed in most of our County parks. Overnight camping and underage drinking are unlawful, but they are not 911 emergencies.
If you are reporting a fire, a medical emergency, or a crime in progress dial 911
To report a suspicious person or activity that concerns you, or to report a crime that has already been committed, dial 244-6400, the non-emergency police phone number.
Priority will be determined by police based on availability of officers in proximity to the location, so do not expect immediate police attention for a non-emergency call.
For Park Maintenance or service, please call : 270-8070
Thank you for calling attention to a problem and for doing your part!
By being proactive, the benefits of the program will be evident by:
A reduction in negative incidents
A reduction in repair and restoration costs for facilities
Increased safety for children and park users
Increase in community pride
