LUTG aim to put on at least 3 shows a term, all of which are acted by our members - from Shakespeare, Chekhov and musicals to plays written by our own members. We perform pieces across a wide variety of genres and so have something for everyone!
To have a chance at getting a part in a play, you'll have to attend auditions, which happen at the start of each term. At the auditions everyone gets split up into groups and then throughout an afternoon goes to each of the production teams in turn and reads some audition pieces for them, which are taken from the actual scripts. A second round of auditions then occurs in which people who the production team want to see again are recalled. A casting meeting is then held and cast lists are posted on facebook and the forum. Even if you do not get recalled, please still check the cast list because you may still have a part!
Acting in a production can be a big commitment with the possibility of you being needed in rehearsals up to 3 times a week. However rehearsals are usually very fun and you'll have plenty of time to bond with your fellow cast!
Lastly, you don't need to be a seasoned actor to audition! LUTG is a society that produces shows with individuals of all levels of experience within a theatre.
