ICEHOTEL Every winter in the heart of Swedish Lapland, something truly magical happens. As the waters of the river Torne freeze over, a glittering, shimmering hotel emerges, sculpted out of the ice itself. This isn’t just a fairy story. This is the world-famous Icehotel®. If it is possible to build a hotel of ice in a small village 200km inside the Arctic Circle, which strikes the whole world with amazement, then anything is possible. The story of ICEHOTEL is indeed a fairy tale come true. 10 000 tons of crystal clear ice from the ‘ice manufacturing plant’, the Torne River, and 30 000 tons of pure snow generously supplied by Mother Nature are needed to build the Icehotel® every year. Every bedroom is unique. Designed by artist around the world. The bed you sleep on consists of an ice block and a thick mattress, covered with reindeer skins. You sleep in a sleeping bag.
