About Jessica Farmer
My goal is to provide you with the best portraits whether they be of you or pets or both. I do my best to capture the personality of my subjects either human or animal.
I am a lover of animals, especially dogs. I have 3 rescued dogs. They are an important part of my family and I know how important your pets are to you. I understand the importance of having pets be a part of your life. I want to be able to capture a beautiful moment of your pet that you can cherish forever. A lot of people I have spoken with ask how I am able to take such intimate portraits of pets. I treat everyones pets like I treat my own, not as just a pet or animal but as an equal. I love to get on the ground with them and play, this allows them to become comfortable with me and allows me to take a great picture.
My background is in Television and Film Production. I graduated from Chapman University's film program. I also studied Photography during my college years. With my love of Pets and Photography, I decided to add another word that started with a "P" that I love...Pin Up Art. I am a lover of Pin Up Art and do my best to create Pin Up Portraits in the classic style.

Ninja and Lisa
I wanted to surprise my boyfriend--a real dog lover--with a personalized, very original gift that I knew he would love. Jessica said that she could create a calendar starring our dog Ninja, and based on the photographs I had seen of Jessica's work, I thought that was a great idea. When Ninja and I arrived at the photo shoot, Ninja took an immediate liking to Jessica, whose genuinely warm and open demeanor would, I imagine, make her a magnet for every dog. Jessica shot scenes in multiple locales and her ideas were ingenious. We ended up with a calendar that not only contained technically excellent photographs, but also truly captured and exhibited Ninjas unique personality and behaviors. I especially appreciated Jessicas graceful and kind direction of Ninja during the shoot. I imagine that even dogs that dont typically like to be photographed will feel like stars in Jessicas hands. As for my boyfriend: He flipped when he saw the calendar, and each picture inside. I know that this is the best present I could possibly have given him, and I can't be more grateful for Jessica's talent in shooting and culling through Ninja's photographs, and for her kind and skillful handling of him during the shoot. Hello my name is Steve, I am of course a dog. I would like to answer some of your questions. I have lots of experience with getting my portraits done by Jessica and I want to share my knowledge with you.
Q: Does my dog have to wear clothes?
A: Not unless you want them to. I, myself will wear the occasional bandana in my portraits but usually I prefer to do them au natural.
Q: Do you come to my house?
A: Jessica Farmer Photography wants to make your pet feel as comfortable as possible. She can come to your home. She is completely mobile. Believe it or not my picture on this page was taken in my living room.
Q: Can we use props?
A: Of course! However, Jessica Farmer Photography does not supply them. If you would like to use props then you must supply them.
Q: Do I have to be present during the shoot?
A: Jessica Farmer Photography suggests that you are present during the shoot to ensure that your pet is comfortable.
Q: Do you just do pet portraits?
A: Nope. Jessica also loves taking portraits of humans. Take a look at the Portrait Gallery.
Q: Who are you Steve the Dog?
A: Jessica rescued me. I was a stray. I am now part of a happy family. I have a brother Gambit and a sister Samus. Jessica was fostering me until she could find me a suitable home but she fell in love with me. I love having my picture taken and have become one of her models but only part time.
