About Planet Postmoderna
Planet Postmoderna is a project that has been conceptualized with the goal of building a Virtual Planet inside the Entropia Universe. We are not yet under the program, but hope to create a new and exciting addition to the game. The unique part of this project is that it is being built in its initial stages brick by brick, dollar by dollar, from sponsorships and support by our community. The project is owned and developed by the team and supporters that put their sweat and tears and resources into bringing this project into reality.
Player Background and Intro
RL players will be able to come to this world and learn about and to experience an altered version of history and are given the opportunity to pursue the answers to their questions (eg what really happened to the Aztecs and to Atlantis? How were those pyramids built? What is the significance of Stonehenge?). What connection does Postmoderna have to Earth and this Space Sector? Is it just pure coincidence or something else?
If you are an explorer at heart and yearn for adventure and knowledge of the unknown, come to Postmoderna, if you dare. If you just want to have fun, come one come all and establish a new way of life and a getaway from the real world that doesn't require you to get on a plane or a bus or a train. However, be warned, we may tease you with quests and awards that may cause you to treat yourself to a nice getaway in the real world when you return from Postmoderna. How? Come and find out.

Game Overview
Planet Postmoderna will be a world in development from the very start. Only few POIs will be available at first and resources will need to be collected in order to build the planet. Players will come to the planet and arrive at Base Camp. This POI is where the first team arrived and set up camp. Here players can purchase any equipment that they will need and/or apply for a job (with either players or NPCs) to earn PEDs to be able to get their start in their new life. Very little sweating will be encouraged (if at all). We want to nurture a working and learning culture. Players working for other players and setting out to hunt or mine from the very start is where each player should begin.
From Base Camp, each player can hire a guide to protect them or take their chances out in the wild. Areas such as the Zilthai Temple (nearest native POI) and one of the existing relics of the native intelligent species and Crystal Canyon, a source of the sought-after Purple Crystal that eventually will become a valuable power source for all of Postmoderna's new inhabitants, are very dangerous and, death is almost guaranteed if you are not well-equipped.
Throughout the available landscape will be everything that each player will need and use to manufacture items that would be required to build this world into a thriving community within this virtual universe. Hard work, knowledge of the planet and proper skilling and cooperation among players will be a must. Existing technologies will help, but New Worlds Corporate will take some time to ship supplies and machinery to the planet to make life here any easier. Initial colonists will need to work hard at first but, it will be worth it.
The payoff for the early settlers will be great and investors and players that move from other planets will have much incentive to use their skills as mid-level and higher-level blueprints become available. Lost technologies (missing-link blueprints) can be looted or can be uncovered at POIs such as the Zilthai Temple and Crystal Canyon. There will be much to do for everyone.
Resources gathered can be sold to other entrepreneurial players or to the New Worlds Terminals to be applied as credit toward the growth of the planet. Players who take the latter route will be able to apply a percent of the sale back to TT Terminals for ownership points in lieu of returned PEDs. They will be able to work toward ownership of property on the planet instead of outright purchase. This makes it possible to work towards something through sweat-equity and from nothing instead of coming into the game with lots of deposited PEDs.
In this model, everyone can win. Although the Sweat Equity route will take much longer it will be worth it. Sweat Equity Routes can be accomplished by working for another player or for New Worlds NPCs at Base Camp.
All in all, this gives you an idea of how this world will develop from scratch and will be wild from the start with lots of fun and adventure to be had.
Planet Postmoderna Background Story (V 11.2008)
In the not too distant future in the alternate and virtual universe, New Worlds Virtual Entertainment and Expeditions was enroute to Calypso to set up a new Virtual Entertainment facility in Port Atlantis. Somewhere along their route, the transport and cargo vessel was pulled out of its trans-space jump by a space anomaly. The anomaly turned out to be an uncharted wormhole. The crew proceeded to investigate it found it to resemble more a tear in space. As the probe neared the wormhole, the tear expanded a bit to reveal an undiscovered planet on the other side.
The tear was much to small to allow the entire ship to pass but smaller shuttles could. The planet was a beautiful blue and green. The land masses were spread out. They were large areas in some and seemed specks in others. Some looked a lot like small piles of white pepper from space. What the crew learned later about these formations was that they were expanses of a dense and very strong rock.
A reconnaissance party went planetside to perform some initial surveys and returned not long after to report already finding a great place to land and set up a survey base. The pilot reported back to HQ and the Corp Offices wasted no time getting back to the transport, Black Venture, with plans to explore further. HQ had determined overwhelmingly by the data they received that this planet would merit more study. They suspected it would be just the location they needed for the corporation’s New World Adventure Theme Project, a tourism and entertainment hub for this area of space. Although unknown to all but the key personnel, that was just a cover. This planet would also serve as a secluded location for the further experimentation and advancement of New World’s technologies, developed far from prying eyes.
The crew sent a pair of heavy lifters to the surface to put down a expandable tower and a few domed structures and began set-up of their base of operations. Upon their return, the space tear collapsed and crushed one of the heavy lifters as it passed through. The second had to return back to base camp. Further supplies had to be sent down to the planet's surface by way of transport pods. These were only large enough to contain a few crew and minor supplies and equipment at a time. They were also disposable so when the Black Venture ran out of them and all the intial survey data had been compiled it had to return home.
The survey teams began further exploration and found a few things very curious, artifacts and structures that resembled those from Ancient Mexico, both Aztec and Mayan in appearance. Coincidence? The crew had also discovered a mysterious crystalline mineral in a canyon not far from Base Camp. The crystals were nearly unbreakable and emitted and absorbed energy like a battery. The crystals grew dark by day and lit up at night like powerful light sources. What was this place they now called Postmoderna?
