The goal of the Fenix Theatre Company is to create exceptionally dynamic and compelling theater where the classics are presented in an original context. We intend to provide our own twist to these great works in the beauty of the outdoors and for free to the public who we value as collaborators in the artistic experience.

The Fenix Theatre Comapny is a 501 (c) (3) non profit organization producing free theater to the southern Maine community. The theater exists solely on the donations of individuals and local businesses. All donations are tax deductible and are greatly appreciated.

Upcoming Shows
William Shakespeare's -"Twelfth Night"
This summer the Fenix will be back in the park to bring you Shakespeare's comedic masterpiece "Twelfth Night". Performances will take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 6:30pm; July 22nd-24th, July 29th-31st, August 5th-7th and 12th-14th.
All performances will be in the wading pool area of beautiful Deering Oaks and every show is FREE to the public.

Executive Artistic Director/ Co-founder
Rob Cameron
Rob could not be happier to have found a home in southern Maine. Coming from New York City, Rob started what is now the Fenix Theatre Company five years ago as the Riverside Shakespeare Theatre in New York City. Five summers, two name changes and one big move later, Rob is so excited to be bringing free, outdoor classics to this great community. Rob has worked extensively off and off-off Broadway at the Mint Theater, UBU Rep, La Mama, Context Theater, Abingdon Stage, the American Globe and twice in the NY International Fringe Festival to name a few. Regionally he has acted at the Berkshire Theater Festival, Connecticut Rep, Hartford Stage Company, Asolo Theatre Company, Peterborough Players and Lost Nation Theater. In Maine he has acted with the Originals and has performed in "The Two Gentlemen of Verona" and as Kate in "Taming of the Shrew". In addition to being the Artistic Director of the Fenix, Rob is pursuing a masters degree in social work at USM and is a program coordinator at Shalom House Inc., a local social service agency that is committed to providing dignity to those living with mental illness in southern Maine. Rob is a proud member of Actors Equity Association.
Co-founder
John E Seymore
John is a small business owner in Maine. He currently is the CEO of LVC United, a private peer-to-peer lending network and investment company and acting COO for the Wasted Minds Media Group. He is also acting Editor in Chief of The Southern Maine Signal Magazine. He is an avid theatre lover, screen-writer and environmentalist. John has lived in Maine since 2002 after arriving for a three day vacation. He has a BA in Politics from UD and MS in Occupational Safety and Health with a concentration in Environmental Management from Columbia Southern University. He recently completed six years of duty in the United States Coast Guard Reserve as a Marine Science Technican. He is a co-founder and advisor for the Social Network Organization, the Bureau of Entertainment, Media and Broadcasting, the New England Actor's Symposium and Headshots Casting. His first directorial short film will be released in the spring of 2009. John currently lives in South Portland.
Bryant Mason
Bryant is an actor, director, and playwright, living in New York City. Originally from Tucson, AZ, he began acting at the age of five, and has performed at theatres all across the country, as well as in New York and internationally. His New York credits include Night Over Taos, directed by Academy Award winner Estelle Parsons, the world premiere of Eduardo Machados Kissing Fidel, the original production of Acts of Mercy by Michael John Garces, and the title role in New York Classical Theatres upcoming production of Macbeth. He has played the title role in The Odyssey written and directed by Nobel Prize winner Derek Walcott, in collaboration with the Trinidad Theatre Workshop and the St. Lucia Center for Culture and the Arts. His regional work includes Seattle Repertory Theatre, Dallas Theatre Center, the Geva Theatre, Yale Repertory Theatre, Texas Shakespeare Festival, Creede Repertory Theatre, Mile Square Theatre, and the Asolo Theatre Companywhere he won Best Actor in the world premiere of Maxwell Andersons Free and Clear opposite Emmy Award winner and Tony nominee Polly Holiday. He has worked with New York Theatre Workshop, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Atlantic Theatre Company, the Lark, Youngbloods, the Culture Project, Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre, Intar, Sounding Theatre Company and taxdeductibletheatre. His experience in performing the classics includes Shakespeares Twelfth Night, Othello, Taming of the Shrew, Much Ado About Nothing, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Loves Labors Lost, Two Gentlemen of Verona, The Tempest, and The Winters Tale, as well as Candida by George Bernard Shaw, Sophocles Oedipus Rex (performed at the world-famous Theatre at Epidaurus in Greece), A Flea in Her Ear by Georges Feydeaux, and Molieres The Bourgeois Gentleman. He has written a full-length adaptation of Dostoevskys Crime and Punishment, as well as several short plays and screenplays. He has a BA from the University of Dallas and an MFA in Acting from the Florida State University/Asolo Conservatory. He is a published playwright and a proud member of Actors Equity Association.
Board Member
Sally Wood
Sally is an actor, fight choreographer, direct and now apparently a board member. Sally has worked regionally and abroad and spent many wonderful summers working in Maine. Two summers ago she made her free Shakespeare in the Park Debut with Fenix Theaters maiden production of The Two Gentleman of Verona, last summer she directed Fenix's "Taming of the Shrew". Sally is thrilled to be making Portland her new home.
Tom Rowan
Tom is the Chief Financial Officer of Shalom House. Tom leads the financial accountability of the organization through his vast knowledge and experience in financial accounting and financial management. Prior to his employment at Shalom House, Tom served as the Controller at the Harbor Schools of Maine and previously with Ingraham, Inc. Tom received his undergraduate degree at Boston College and received a Master's Degree in Business from Husson College. He serves as part of the adjunct faculty at Andover College where he teaches Accounting and Finance. Tom resides in Standish. Toms strong background in business and accounting provide the Fenix Theatre Company a wealth of knowledge to assist the company in moving forward.
