These behaviors and characteristics could indicate academic deficiencies and a need for help. If your child:
· Has a special need
· Is misbehaving during classroom instruction
· Never has homework.
· Lacks motivation and confidence to complete tasks
· Is below level in reading or math
· Must use fingers when doing computations
· Is easily distracted and unfocused
· Has difficulty decoding words (sounding out)
· Becomes frustrated when challenged to work
· Cannot read fluently
· Can read, but has problems comprehending information
· Must use calculator for all computations
· Makes good grades, but has difficulty with fundamentals
· Is creative, but lacks proper writing techniques
· Is not comfortable reading aloud
· Has low academic performance
· Is average, but would like to be above average
· Has difficulty in larger groups
