At the end of the Bright Explorers programme a child is likely to:
Know some words by sight
Understand the conventions of a book
Recognise and sound most intial sounds
Hold a pencil correctly
Write some or all letters correctly
Write his or her name
Know the days of the week
Know some common nursery rhymes
Be able to count to 10
Be able to join in group sessions with confidence
Bright Explorers
This programme follows a more structured curriculum than Bright Beginners and is divided into three distinct stages (1, 2 and 3).
The focus of the programme is still on having fun and developing a children's love of language but with more emphasis on teaching the essential early reading and writing skills.
These classes are based on tried and tested traditional methods of teaching children to read and closely follows the ideas of the Early Years Foundation Stage, providing a play based method of teaching basic language and literacy. The programme also links in with the National Curriculum .
