ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER
I’m Angel Morton, 31 year old freelance / concert photographer out of Richmond, Virginia. I grew up in small town USA (Independence, Kansas) and while I attended my fair share of concerts, the thought of being a “concert photographer” never occurred to me until much later.
I moved to Richmond, VA in the fall of 2003 with my husband and son. Shortly after our move I was given a Canon 35mm SLR camera that I brought along to my first Carbon Leaf show. I learned two valuable lessons that night. 1) Film is an expensive way to learn; and 2) Concert photography is harder than it looks.
Since my fist show I’ve purchased two Canon DSLR’s and the proper lens’s. I’ve traveled throught the Mid-Atlantic shooting both regional and national acts at various venues and festivals. I’ve been the official photographer for Richmond’s 102.1 The X and Alex Band’s Donate Life - as well as servings as the personal photographer for mulitple bands at Washington D.C.’s ShamROCK Fest. My photos have been featured invarious music publications and blogs as well as on multiple artists websites (Will Hoge, Honor By August, Carbon Leaf, etc) and the cover for Saiah’s “So Much To Say” Ep.
Besides my work as a concert photographer, I have served as the production photographer for a pilot television show, Bulletproof.
I also enjoy freelance and fine art photography. I spend my free time shooting urban and decayed parts of cities and finding the inner beauty in what most people call “eye sores”. I can also be found shooting skaters and surfers and any other athlete that doesn’t mind being in front of the camera.
