S. Velvet Noose
When you see S. Velvet Noose's moniker attached to a project, be assured poetic theatre for the night will be your indulgence. Nooses creations are a mixture of theatre and poetics, sprinkled with pop culture. Through Nooses showmanship of heart wrenching narratives and abstract religious tales (that our often perverse), audience members become full participants in the challenging subject matter. Notorious for performing in his rendition of black-face or glam-minstrel, Noose pairs the medias archetypes of homosexuality and the historical racially oppressing black-face. Glam-minstrel creates a mockery of the mockery, intending to tear down Black queer ethnic notions. While the subject matter Noose has chosen to tackle is weighty, he engages the audience taking them on an enthralled journey of drama, comedy and a visual presentation that fully stretches the smile and the inquisitive lines in audience members foreheads

"Words That Breathe Life"
"A few years ago I started using my own words as a form of therapy for life's struggles and achievements. Later, I compiled all of these saved journal pieces to create Words That Breathe Life. The premise for this book is a personal journal of real-life situations that were turned into a message for the day. These experiences touch on pain, hurt, betrayal, fulfillment, delight and other raw emotions. Although wonderful to seek knowledge from our elders, it is also great to have a peer who can relate more to today’s world and give sound advice. I am hoping my book will encourage you to embrace life, learn from your mistakes and celebrate happiness while continuing on your journey of existence."
- V. Bella
I purchased my book last August [2010] while visiting in NYC and enjoyed every bit of it from the beginning to the end. As she stated above, it is a journal and the format is as such and emits raw emotions. "Words That Breathe Life" takes you on a journey of personal situations [good & bad] and how V. Bella not only coped but turned it into a learning experience. We all go thru it and many times are not quite sure whom to turn to and often seek self-help. Self-help is good however you then have the the tendency to over analyze the situation and in turn make matters worse. This book aids in relief to those everyday struggles as well as encourges a new zest for life hence it's title "Words That Breathe Life."
I highly recommended this book to own as well as give as a gift and you can purchase it on her website,
Le Bel Ange, below for $11.95 .

The Left Side Poets Present...Strange Fruit
The Left Side Poets are a compilation of artists: Stefano Patton/S. Velvet Noose, Sophia Buxton/Quote Key, Shawnon Corprew/Sublimeness, Nikieta Faulkner/Key, Ronald Clark/Ron Ton Soup, Terry Odis/T.O. the Soapbox Poet, Tolani Oyefule/In Due Time, Daniel Parrish/No Pun Intended, Martin Tucker/Bad Apple (Brief bios of contributing poets appear at the end of the book)
In less than one hundred pages, Strange Fruit gives us 9 poets and about 77 poems of raw, unadulterated, nostalgic content. This collection represents the art of life; it is politically poetic, as it is also personably poetic. The joy, hope, love, despair, and freedom are carefully laced into the stanzas of every poem. Strange Fruit gifts readers with an array of poetry, in addition, it provides an eclectic, and exceptional culture of lyrical substance that will enchant readers and inspire poets abroad.
Some on my favorite pieces are “Black Love Is Positive” by Stefano Patton (S. Velvet Noose), “Thank You Mr. West” by Tolani Oyefule(In Due Time), “Only” by Ronald Clark(Ron Ton Soup), “Help” by Sophia Buxton(Quote Key), HairStory by The Left Side Poets featuring , Sophia Buxton(Quote Key), Shawnon Corprew(Sublimeness), & Nikieta Faulkner(Key), and Daniel Parrish‘s (No Pun Intended) “80’s Baby BABY!!!” will leave you reminiscing. The element and true value of lyrical poetry embraces every word recorded in this phenomenal collection.
The Left Side Poets Present… Strange Fruit offers a wealth of talent, and an overall conscious read, you’ll be tempted to complete it in one sitting, then curl up in bed and read it again!

DJ CHOCOLATTE
"Coming from a Costa Rican and Barbadian heritage, Dj Chocolatte is
very knowledgable in the music industry. Being raised in an era where
crates were literally "crates" I have the experience to pump up and
keep up the party. I play everything from Reggae, Reggaeton, Pop,
Rock, Soca, Hiphop & RnB, Zouk, Kompa, Gospel, Bachata, House and Techno.
I started out DJing under my uncle's wing as a child and soon grew to
love every aspect of Djing. As I grew older, I went to different
parties and noticed that the party scene wasn't up to my standards.
In this "male dominant" business, I decided to bring to the table
what no other male dj could bring, which was, be a DJ of the female species."
